Abstract

The Centro-Gare Creative District (DCCG) is an initiative that aims to transform the historic center of Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, by promoting the creative economy, valuing the memory and identity of the territory, which has a intrinsic link with the railway past. Considering the role of this region in the historical-cultural development of the city, we sought to identify how the theme of cultural heritage is related to the Centro-Gare Creative District, analyzing the existence of buildings recognized as cultural heritage as well as the actions proposed and developed within the initiative. From the set of data collected, it was found that cultural heritage is approached in a transversal and multifaceted way, being one of the pillars of the Centro-Gare Creative District, contributing to its development.
