The work addresses the memories and life story of Dona Maria Natalina Santos Costas (1943-), afro-religious priestess of tambor de mina and umbanda/pajelança in the city of Belém (PA). We focus on a period of her trajectory, which covers her initiation to the present day. We therefore highlight her calling, when she was initiated by Dona Maria Aguiar in tambor de mina; his trip to umbanda, with Dona Nevinha; and his ordeal and resignation. After the death of her husband, a fact that separated her from religiosity and took her to Maranhão, to take care of her with Zé Negreiros. Throughout the narrative, complex social relationships are observed, the presence of important historical personalities, as well as racial issues, stigma, and a complex sociability network, identified through interclass crony relationships.
