Abstract

This work aims to identify the financial information used to support managerial decisions by small and medium industrial companies affiliated to the Associação Comercial e Industrial de Chapecó – ACIC. This is an exploratory and quantitative study using a non-experimental cross-sectional methodology. Out of the 53 companies affiliated to the ACIC only 29 agreed in participating in the study. The study conducted structured interviews with managers of those companies in January and
February 2007. The results suggests that Control accounts payable, Control accounts receivable, Cash and Short-term investments are the most used financial information. Another result of the study is that variables such as manager's educational level, manager's degree, and the size and age of the companies do not play a role in determining the use of financial information.
