Abstract

Starting from presupposition that disseminated discourses through business communication seek sedimentation of a positive image of company and its management to external and internal publics, in this paper we deal with identification and analysis of discourse strategies of ideological persuasion of a company from steel sector at Minas Gerais state, Brazil. Through a qualitative methodological approach, concentrated on formal speeches of the organization, in this study we used French discourse analysis. Selected data was submitted to a systematic linguistic treatment to obtain the discourse strategies of ideological persuasion - explicit, implicit or silenced ones - in the formal communication. The analysis indicates the use of communication pieces with the intention of mobilizing internal and external publics according organization interests. Using grandiloquent illustrations, apparently unworried about business results, or appealing to capitalism goals, analyzed speeches reveal the presence of ideology as one of the basis of the business strategy, a process whose ideological intentionality we tried to explore along this paper.
