Abstract

The article focus is on master and doctoral thesis which has investigated competence and professional career as the main concern. The periods considered were 2005 and 2006. The empirical design involved two steps: a) investigating the thesis by knowledge areas and by graduated levels, and b) investigating a sample inside of each area by conceptual categories that structure the scientific works at the graduated levels. The inferences were restricted to the sample design. They reveal new tendencies on such areas as competence and professional career for technological based enterprises as well as the traditional tendencies to respond empirical organizational needs. It was identified the need of studies on factors affecting competence and its association with professional careers. It is a gap in all of the knowledge areas analyzed.
