About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The journal "Cadernos do CEOM" is published by the Centro de Memória do Oeste de Santa Catarina (CEOM/Unochapecó), in partnership with the postgraduate programs in Environmental Sciences and Education at the Universidade Comunitária da Região de Chapecó (Unochapecó). Its aim is to publish original work in the form of articles and reviews related to History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Sociology, Museology, Archivology and Education. It is a biannual publication aimed at researchers from the national and international academic community.

Calls for articles for thematic dossiers are issued every six months. In addition to these, papers are accepted on a continuous basis. There is no fee for submission or publication.

 

Peer review process

The submitted papers will be evaluated according to the following procedures:

First stage

Under the responsibility of the editors, the papers are evaluated on the basis of their originality, the absence of plagiarism, whether the work fits in with the scope of the journal, the relevance of the topic, regional and international distribution, the training of the authors and compliance with the journal's guidelines for authors and submission conditions. At this stage, the work can be rejected on the basis of any of the above criteria or forwarded to the next stage of evaluation.

Second stage

The papers approved in the first stage are sent for evaluation, keeping the relationship between authors and referees confidential. The referees are selected according to the area of knowledge and theme of the work. At this stage, the articles can be rejected, approved for publication or sent to the authors for changes by a stipulated deadline. In the latter case, papers that are not submitted on time will be rejected.

The decision on whether or not to publish the work will be made by the editors, who can also request changes from the authors.

Open Access Policy

This journal offers immediate free access to its content, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public provides greater worldwide democratization of knowledge.

Creative Commons License: Allows remixing, adaptation and new creation from the work for non-commercial purposes, with credit given to the author (CC BY-NC).

Anti-plagiarism policy

It is the authors' responsibility to guarantee the originality of their work by using ABNT-standard citations. The journal Cadernos do CEOM checks submitted work using the Similarity Check tool. If plagiarism is found, the work will be rejected.

History of the journal

Published since 1986, it was initially printed annually and focused on disseminating research into the history and prehistory of the West of Santa Catarina, with a sensitive eye to marginalized groups and social struggles. Since 2000, it has been published every six months and has expanded its scope to include national and international work. After its inclusion in the Unochapecó Journal Portal, through the Electronic Journal Publishing System (SEER), in 2008, it began to seek greater internationalization and since 2015, it has ceased to be printed and is now published only through SEER, with all its content available.
