Abstract

This article reflects on the Tran-Amazonian as an occupation action and territorial control of the Amazon, together with official colonization, presented to society as “land reform”. Far from an equitable land distribution, the military actions have generated conflicts between the capital and the peasant communities inserted there. With regard to Southeast Pará such actions stopped the Guerrilha do Araguaia and alter the possibility of the peasant organization of struggle for land that is our main concern.  This process was marked by an external logic development for the region. The vision on the region as a demographic void and the last frontier for the capital was the basis for the creation of two National Development Plans (PND) within which the great agricultural agroforestry and agrominerals projects were integrated, and the National Integration Program (PIN) for highway construction, including the Tran-Amazonian. The literature process this article was performed through a bibliographical and documental review and analysis of interviews with peasants involved in the Guerrilha.
